Cancun case
Keywords:
Responsible tourism, Local community, Sustainable tourismAbstract
The current study aims to determine whether future hotel professionals in Cancun city engage in sustainable practices based on the fact that the local community is essential to practicing sustainable tourism aligned with the three pillars of sustainability within the tourism sector: a) environmental, generating respect for natural resources; b) economic, by contributing to the supply of services; and c) social, in the search for benefifits and welfare of the community while presupposing that the community is not harmed (UN Global Compact, 2017). The proposal is structured in two stages: documentary-exploratory and conclusive. The study is based on a three-pronged approach. A sustainability and responsibility model with three stages: awareness, agenda, and action centered on the pursuit of responsible tourism that includes the future host with environmental, social, and cultural values.
